OCD Symptoms (OCI-R)

The Obsessive Compulsive Inventory-Revised (Foa et al.) is the most widely used brief OCD scale in clinical practice: it assesses distress across six dimensions — washing/contamination, checking, ordering, obsessions (intrusive thoughts), hoarding, and mental neutralizing (counting, numbers). OCD is not a "love of order": it's obsessions (intrusive unpleasant thoughts) and compulsions (rituals that lower anxiety) locked in a loop and consuming time. The measure shows which dimensions are currently pronounced and how much.

Before you start
This is a screening of distress from OCD symptoms over the past month, not an OCD diagnosis. OCD is neither "perfectionism" nor a "love of order" but a closed loop of obsessions and compulsions. The measure shows which dimensions are troubling; a total score of ≥21 is a threshold for clinical assessment, not a self-diagnosis.
