General Self-Efficacy (GSE)

The Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (Schwarzer & Jerusalem) measures your subjective belief that you can handle difficult situations and see things through — not in any single area, but in general. It's not an objective ability but the feeling of "I'll probably manage," which strongly affects whether you take on hard things and whether you continue after a setback. Self-efficacy is built through experience and grows.

Before you start
This is a subjective belief in your ability to cope, not an objective assessment of your skills. Self-efficacy depends on the domain and on experience — you may feel confident in one area and unsure in another. A low score doesn't mean "you can't" — it's a zone where experience hasn't accumulated yet and can be created.
